In our topic, the children learnt about what is beneath our feet! They learnt about rock types, how they are formed and the process of how fossils are formed. Within the unit, the children learnt about the paleontologist Mary Anning.
Why are shadows not always there?
In our topic, the children learnt about how shadows are formed. The children learnt that light travels in straight lines. Within the unit, the children investigated which materials produced the best shadows. At the end of the unit, the children created a shadow puppet show retelling the narrative poem 'The Spider and the Fly' by Mary Howitt.
Are all People Treated Fairly?
In this topic, the children learnt about the Civil Rights Movement in America in the 1960s. The children learnt about Mae Jemison and Katherine Johnson and their determination to become scientists despite being faced with gender and racial discrimination at the time and paving the way for black women in Science today.
