The children have been learning about WW1 as part of our schools 100 years commemoration of WW1. We have been to Knowsley skills academy and taken part in army training, drill. We also heard a talk from a real soldier dressed in WW1 kit and learnt all about the Liverpool Pals who went to war.
Today the children attended a WW1 commemoration activities at The Strand, held by Ykids, we had great fun. We went to an old cinema and watched war time films and news footage, we went to the field hospital and learnt about soldiers wounds and injuries, we even had the chance to try some stage make up and bandages to look like wounded soldiers ourselves! We had to go to the recruitment office and have a medical to check if we were fit enough to enlist.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed the topic and have had some wonderful enriching learning experiences along the way.
