This is the key to good progress in school and in life. Being able to communicate with another person is vital in all areas of our lives. We teach the children how to listen, how to understand (comprehend) and how to talk about what they have learnt. Language is best learnt through shared experiences. As a parent you are the proud owner of 100s of words and it is a privilege to share this knowledge with your child. Listening to each other, asking each other questions, learning new vocabulary and showing an understanding of this all helps children become strong communicators. I will find resources that celebrate and use these skills so that you can work on these crucial skills together.
Tinga Tinga TalesBeautiful origin stories that will give you plenty of opportunities to talk together afterwards. There are a lot of these tales available on the iplayer.
Let's Play! The children learn how to use their imaginations n a role play scenario by learning about different jobs and then how to pretend to take on these roles. What a perfect activity to do together to share language and to create magic in your household!
