Welcome to Class 5/6S
Welcome to our class page. 5/6S is a class full of eager learners who are keen to do their very best and enjoy finding out new things. I hope you enjoy seeing what we have been up to. Mrs Stott
We are learning about properties of shapes, including angles, nets and types of lines. Great fun!
Allday's Farm came to teach the children about adaptation and evolution of animals. Mr Allday showed the children how the horse has changed over millions of years in order to survive, and how his other animals are adapted to their survival needs. We also got to stroke the animals!
The children have experimented with circuits, learned to draw them scientifically and carried out experiments using light and sound
Our latest topic has been fractions, decimals and percentages. We have used practical equipment, pictures and symbols to compare and problem solve.
We had a focus of healthy eating in DT Week. Our brief was to design and make a healthy vegetarian pasta bake. The children did a fantastic job and produced a tasty meal. We also had a visit from Junior Chef who made healthy breakfasts with the children.
The children have drumming lessons. We are working on compound rhythms this term.
We had a visit from Levi Tafari, who performed his poems, then supported the children in writing their own poems using personification.
The children across Year 5 and 6 learnt and performed the play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' - in a day!
We have been practising shading, looking at light, dark, tone and shadows.
