Welcome to Key Stage 1
We have three mixed year 1 and 2 classes:
1/2Mc - Miss McMinn, Mrs Duffy and Miss Lawler
1/2B - Miss Brady, Mrs West, Mr Smith and Miss Saunders
1/2M - Mrs McComish, Mrs Rogers and Miss Lee
We are also lucky to have Miss Lang and Mrs Stanford also working with some of our year 1/2 classes this year!
PE is every Monday for Mrs McComish's class and every Tuesday for Miss McMinn's and Miss Brady's.
Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit (white tops, maroon shorts and black pumps).
Home reading is very important and you can really help your child make good progress if you listen to them read every night. Every time your child reads at home they will receive an epraise point for home reading.
Past experiences tell us that the children who make the most progress in reading are the ones who read at home on a regular basis.
Every Wednesday the children will be given Maths homework relating to their Maths Passport Target or objectives they have been working towards in class. This homework is now to be competed online on a website called MyMaths. Letters have been sent home with the login and your child's username and password. The homework can be completed on a computer, Ipad or tablet. It is a great way for children to assess themselves and see what they need to practise. Please help your child to practise their target, whether it be counting in fives or learning the 2 times tables. If you need any further support or guidance then don't hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher.
Every Friday the children will be given a piece of Literacy homework. This needs to be completed and returned to school on Monday.
Every Friday the children will also be given a list of spellings which they are to practice at home. These spellings will be tested in class the following week.
If you need any equipment to help your child to complete their homework i.e. pencils, rulers etc. then please ask your child's class teacher who will be happy to provide you with the appropriate items.
