Here you will find information, photos and videos of some of the exciting things we get up to in 1/2Mc/R. We are very hard working and love to learn but we also have lots of fun!
It is very important that the children read every night at home and that they take part in the homework tasks that we set. Please feel free to come and see Mrs McComish or Mrs Robinson if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you for all your support.
The children enjoyed making clothing out of collage materials to wear in a fashion show during Design Technology week. They looked at existing outfits and used this to help with their design.
In maths this week the children in year 2 worked really hard and enjoyed finding one third of different quantities, some children even found two thirds as well! The year 1 children have worked hard on shape and could name 2D shapes and their properties.
This week in English have read a wonderful book called "The Day the Crayons Quit" The children had great fun taking on the different emotions the crayons were feeling and portraying this using freeze frame drama!
The children were set a challenge by Chef Lindsay to design and make their own healthy pasta salad. The children tasted and evaluated a range of pasta salad in class and then used this knowledge when creating their own dish. What fun they had!
The children had lots of fun making a healthy breakfast snack when Junior Chef visited school. They practised their knife skills by cutting and chopping the ingredients. All the children agreed they tasted delicious.
During our P.E lessons we have created dance sequences and practised partner routines when working with Mrs Hardiman. The children had lots of fun performing their finished pieces to other classes.
During the festive period, the children had a very special visitor who they ate breakfast with. They were lucky enough to receive a gift off Father Christmas and even sang some Christmas songs with him.
As part of their Science topic the children have been learning about animals, humans and living things. Mr Allday brought some animals from his farm into school and the children discovered about the life cycle of a chicken and found out the difference between omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. They also spent time discussing how to care for animals.
We have been looking at the different parts of a plant and what a plant needs to survive and grow. The children enjoyed planting seeds and observing the changes over time.
We had a lovely walk around Seaforth village looking for the doctors surgery, the dentist, the post office, the train station and the park. We talked about how a village is different to a town and a town is different to a city.
